6th Grade Community Action Project

You may have noticed a few more feathered friends around campus! Thanks to the sixth grade Community Action Project, we now have several new bird feeders. The Community Action Project (CAP), gives students a chance to identify a need within our school community and meet that need through service-learning. They plan, collaborate, and implement their idea to make a difference at school. Along with birdhouses and feeders, one group of students built a tetherball game that is now a popular option for break. Finally, all students can enjoy a beautiful butterfly garden. These innovative students demonstrated agency, thoughtfulness, and creativity as they worked together to accomplish their goals contributing to our MDS campus community.
