At Morganton Day School, our class parents are part of the Parent Action Council or “PAC” as we know it.

You will be responsible for supporting your classroom teacher with needs that may arise throughout the year. You will also act as a liaison between your teacher and the other parents in the class by sending group communications about upcoming fundraisers, gala auction art projects + baskets, and other events such as Teacher Appreciation Week, Bake Sales, the Book Fair, etc. As part of the PAC, you will also aid in organizing said events and fundraisers.

At MDS, we believe that parent volunteers are an essential part in creating a successful learning environment. Small actions speak loud words and many hands make light work!

We greatly appreciate help when it comes to field trips as we are always in need of chaperons and drivers.

Only available for short spurts of time here and there? No problem! Volunteering to help setup, teardown, run the register, etc. at some of our bigger school events like the Fall Book Fair or Annual Gala Auction is a great way to be involved too.

Do you have any special talents or hobbies? Groundskeeping, electrical work, reading, painting, juggling, balloon twisting… whatever it may be, we can surely find a use for your special skill!

There are so many grant programs, sweepstakes and rewards offered by corporations, retailers, educational nonprofits, and even our state, city, and local government. Keep an eye out, and enter!

As they say in the lottery ads: someone has to win, so why not us?!

If you are fortunate enough to work for a company with a matching fund program, see if they’ll add Morganton Day School to their approved list of non-profits.

It’s a great way to make your own donations work that much harder, plus, a tax break for your company so it’s a win-win!

Even if you can’t support Morganton Day School in some of the ways suggested here, you may have connections who can; and reaching out to them has value too!

Think about friends, colleagues, or family members who can donate auction items or their talents to create one, personalize artwork for a holiday or end-of year teacher gift, set-up a coffee truck for a staff treat, donate a lunch during conference week, etc.
