Eighteen talented writers from Morganton Day School were recently honored during the North Carolina Reading Association’s state level Young Authors celebration. Their writings were published in a compilation, along with other young authors from across the state. The Blue Ridge Reading Council chose works from 22 young authors, all of whom were from MDS, to submit to the North Carolina Reading Association for judging. Other regional reading councils did likewise, and state winners were chosen in January.

Young Authors may write prose or poetry, fiction, or nonfiction about their personal experiences with kindness, tenacity, or anything uplifting. Published Young Authors from MDS include: Zoe Davison, Tripp Alberts, Finley Toner, Eden McGimsey, Reid Buchanan, Joshua Crowder, Zee O’Hagan, Avery Clontz, Henry Beall, Kiley Carver, Ruthie Collett, Andrew Vasile, Grace Arrowood, Colin Brieter, Natalie Brittain, McKenna Carver, Gwendolyn Julian, and Sam Clontz.

Morganton Day School serves students from preschool to 8th grade with hands-on, inquiry-based learning and places great emphasis on reading and writing, as well as S.T.E.A.M. If you would like more information or a tour, please call (828)437-6782 or visit morgantondayschool.com.
