Cultivating Cultural Experiences
Each year, MDS students have the opportunity to focus on a specific Spanish-speaking country to learn more deeply about the cultural aspects that shape the people, their lives, and their perspectives. Students experience music and dancing, explore elements of art, make connections about similarities and differences in daily life, dive into history, and taste the food.
Every student in the school, from our youngest learners in Junior Kindergarten to experienced researchers and communicators in 8th grade, participates in this exciting event. This year, students focused on the beautiful country of El Salvador. To make this event even more special, we are privileged to have several families with El Salvadorian heritage! They were able to share with the students stories of daily life
experiences and truly give the young inquirers a taste of the culture.
In Spanish class, Senora Barbosa focused on language development through a cultural lens, and each enrichment teacher supported learning through movement, art, and music. This collaborative effort culminated with a night of immersive learning and lots of fun! We are so fortunate to provide these wonderful experiences for our families and were thrilled to have everyone on campus this evening!
