Everyday at MDS is a Winter Wonderland!
The holiday season is a magical time for children. It’s filled with wonder, excitement, and joy. Today was certainly magical at MDS. Our fabulous Coach B, with the help of many teachers and parent volunteers, transformed the gymnasium into a winter wonderland. Students traveled through town to the "North Pole" via horse-drawn carriage, provided by Mimosa Hills Stables. Head Elf Cato-Chapman met the students at the gym door to ensure all students could recite “The Code of Elves”.
Did you know, there is room for everyone on the nice list?
Students then embarked on a scooter ride through the seven layers of the candy cane forest and ended by scootering through the Lincoln Tunnel in search of Santa in NYC. Bringing an artistic flair and creativity to the activity, students created bowls of “spaghetti with syrup" before heading back to school for a real breakfast of pancakes and bacon. But, the fun didn't stop there! During reading partners, students from the M.A.D.E. team, under the guidance of Dr. Posner, delivered candy canes from the basket of a robot they built and programmed. The robot, complete with music and holiday lights, spread joy throughout the halls of the school.
Integrating quintessential holiday activities into classes brings this festive spirit to life while creating life-long memories. Our IB curriculum is designed for the integration of content from all disciplines and today was an example of this. Working together, teachers extend learning outside the classrooms.
