Making a Difference through Service

On Monday, November 25th, 2024 MDS Students united in a concerted effort to share their time, talents, and resources with our community.

Service as action is an important aspect of the IB philosophy. By seeking opportunities to take action, we strive to develop caring members of the community who intentionally make a positive difference in the lives of others and in our environment.

Throughout the year, students engage with our local community; however, on this special day, we took time to celebrate our engagement within the community together. Through experiences that focus on service as action, students learned the value of community participation and gained a deeper understanding of the issues facing their immediate surroundings.

Teachers took the opportunity to reflect with students and brainstorm ways we could continue to make a difference.

We look forward to this day with excitement each year, knowing that MDS is an active part of the Morganton community. We learn so much by taking part in all that is happening around us.
